Apple Cider Vinegar Cocktail Can Reduce Insulin Sensitivity

Research done by” The Journal of Diabetes Care” has shown that this apple cider vinegar cocktail, taken before a higher carb meal, can reduce your insulin sensitivity when consuming carbs. Basically, two groups of people were included in this study, insulin sensitive people and type 2 diabetics.

Insulin sensitive people (pre-diabetic), one hour after eating a high carb meal, had 35% reduction in their sensitivity when consuming this cocktail prior to eating.

Type 2 diabetes had a 19% reduction in their sensitivity.

The reasoning behind it is that apple cider vinegar effects how quickly carbohydrates absorb in your body. You could possibly enhance the effects by including a dash of turmeric in the cocktail. There is some evidence that turmeric may have the ability to activate AMPK, which is an energy sensor in the body which helps glucose to enter the cells for more energy while the body in in motion, like walking, working, exercising. Now to take it to another level you can also use some fresh ginger juice.  Fresh ginger juice can increase the amount of receptors on the cell which can increase the amount of glucose which can enter each cell. What this all does is allow the body to use more glucose in your in your blood for energy instead of staying in your bloodstream and causing your high glucose numbers.

Here is the recipe for the apple cider vinegar cocktail that I use.

Enjoy!
